Christmas 2021 News and a Snarky Cat Tangled in Joy Card

Hello!

Thank you for visiting my Art by Jenny online shop! I hope you're keeping safe and well, finding more time for being creative and enjoying using your wonderful arty treasures. Art is good for us, so make time every day, especially during December. Spend at least 10 minutes colouring, tangling (doodling with style), painting or sculpting clay to help calm the mind after being out in the rat race. Create with whatever makes you smile!

Christmas and New Year Arty Break ...

I'm having holidays from Wed 22nd Dec until Tuesday 11th Jan (back to work on the Tuesday 11th) but if you need something posted during this time, simply let me know by phone or text 0428898120 as emails won't be checked every day.

Until the 22nd Dec, orders will be with Australia Post within 1-2 days of ordering (see FAQ page for details) unless its a PreOrder or weekend.

Delayed Tim treasures are on the way ... most of them anyway! The ones we're still waiting for are the Tim Holtz Moon Masks and the Idea-Ology Christmas Backdrops, Paper Dolls, Ephemera (not happening), Worn Wallpaper Scraps, Trees, Feative Tins and Remnant Rubs. They arrived 23rd Dec and we have a few left of some! Sadly, we couldn't get our whole order due to shipping incidents and issues but thankfully we received most of all the treasures. There's always next year!

Also, whichever day these delayed treasures arrive inStore, they will be posted straight away, I won't make you wait until the 11th before I post them :)

After Christmas, I'm going on holidays to somewhere really exotic and colourful - yep, you've guessed it. I'm going to my art studio! ha ha ha :) An island retreat at home! It will be such a long flight, I'll def need to relax after I arrive with a strong hot cuppa and fresh box of paints :) A few days with family and friends is on the cards as well. Will be an awesome holiday!

Christmas Crafty Corner ...

I've written a little ditty that is sure to make you smile or roll your eyes! Here it goes ... sing it to the traditional tune of Joyful Joyful.

Joyful Joyful arty treasures,

Colours bright textures bold,
what are You creating?

Have a go playing with blending inks to make a watercolour style background with your favourite characters. I've used Snarky wrapped in a scarf ... from the Tim Holtz Snarky Christmas set, ideal for a card or journal page.

I started with a blank card and stamped Snarky wearing the scarf (Tim Holtz Christmas Snarky Cat stamp set) upside down in the centre using Jet Black Ranger Archival Ink.

Using a wet paintbrush or filled waterbrush, paint with water around the cat, then while it is still wet, apply Distress Spray Inks using a paintbrush in Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn to the wet area allowing the colours to blend together, creating an organic look. Let dry and then splatter drops of water to make faded spots. Heat dry for best effects so it dries before the water spots wick out.

Using Distress ink pad in dark greens, Peeled Paint and Forest Moss, stamp the leaves across the top to look like hanging branches of a very large tree. Dry completely.

Using an Embossing Ink Pad, stamp out Tim's Retro Flakes snowflakes around the sides and base of the card. While damp, scatter a white, clear or clear sparkly Embossing Powder over them. Shake off the excess and heat gently to melt the powder. This step can also be done before the green background.

Colour your Snarky Cat with pencils, markers, crayons or inks... then add spots of Ranger Stickles Glitter Glue for tree lights. I used watercolour pencils :)

To give the impression that Snarky's scarf is more like tinsel, why not glue on tiny tinsel ribbon, mica flakes, glitter, or draw lines with glitter glue. I've used part of Snarky's scarf for the tangle too, but you could draw a scribbly line and add more lights along it. Now Snarky's tangled in glittery lights!

Add anything else you feel Snarky would like, fishbones, mice or balls of wool ... or maybe leave those for another day. Have fun!

Merry Christmas!
