Hope is Never Lost When You Have Art

Ideas and Inspiration...

Tim Holtz Stamps and Distress Embossing Glazes are a wonderful combination for creating dimension and layering colour.

Imagine using the Broken China Distress Embossing Glaze on a mini faux glass jar to create the look of water (instead of using ink like I used for the ATC above). This is because Distress Embossing Glaze is translucent (see through) once melted.

Distress Embossing Glaze can change its look simply by using a different colour ink, paint or medium.

In my photo above, I had a play with different mediums using Weathered Wood on white mixed media paper... from left :
- Distress Ink Pad Tattered Rose (unembossed underneath),
- Distress Oxide Ink Pad Tattered Rose (unembossed underneath),
- Collage Gel Medium (vertical scribble and smiley),
- Archival Ink Pad Bubblegum Pink (unembossed on the right),
- Ranger Dye Based Ink Pad Yellow (green leaf is embossed).
Like all embossing powders, the Distress Embossing Glaze works with most inks, paints and mediums. How many more colours can you make?

FYI ... My ATC shown uses Tim's 'Flower Jar' Stamp Set, Archival inks and Distress Inks to create the jar (vase) of flowers. The flowers and jar are cut out using the coordinating Framelits die cutting set. Love how closely they cut around each design, even the leaves. The pretty pink background is made by blending Distress Oxide Ink onto mixed media paper then run through my Big Shot with the Tim Holtz 3D Embossing Folder 'Botanical'. It was then brushed over with Weathered Wood Distress Oxide Ink to enhance the beautiful swirly patterns.

Whether you're testing arty treasures or creating a masterpiece, experiment with the different mediums and enjoy every moment. No rules, just arty goodness and crafty fun!

Speaking of posting treasures - sidetracked much? oooh shiny... The last few weeks I've been sharing samples of Yupo paper (translucent) and this week I opened a gorgeous pad of Tim's Kraft Stock Metallic Confectionsto share. Which colour did you get? Its so shiny and ever so pretty! Perfect for embossing, altering, sanding, staining, using with alcohol inks, die cutting and layering in journals. The 4"x2" piece should be enough to try with you fave techniques... why not add it to your journal page, artist trading card or make a bookmark?

With all the covid still spreading around the world, its easy to feel overwhelmed and scared that the end isn't in sight, especially with it trying to take over Australia again. I hope you and your loved ones are staying safe and covid free.

Thank goodness for arts and crafts... Hope is never lost while we have art! Make sure you find time in the chaos for creativity so you too can benefit from its healing, calming properties. It really does help.

Happy Creative Day!
:)
Jenny
