Previous chatter ... scroll down for Snarky's birthday card :)

On Sunday (a week or so ago), I tidied up my studio and shop then had a quick play with Snarky Cat (Tim Holtz stamp), gorgeous colourful Dylusions inks, both sprays and Archival ink pads, clear Dyamonds Pebbles (fine embossing powder) and sparkly Stickles Glitter Glue.

While muddling about tidying the shop with thoughts of more new awesome products on the way over to Oz, I rediscovered things I'd forgotten about, like Pink Ink Designs stamps that still are not online (bit hard to see what I have if it's not online) and Strathmore canvas boards that will be fun to alter, and a few other life essentials. I love being surrounded by it all, after all, they're my favourite things in the world, art supplies! lol :) However I am a shop not a hoarder, and I got to thinking that it must be time to have a sale, get all the unloved or simply unnoticed treasures out in the open online and into homes where they can actually get used to make smiles.

Personal Day Off - Monday 21st July - we will be (was) closed for the day for packing, emails and phone calls (the shop is always open 24/7 eight days a week) while you all enjoyed the final few hours of our Wintery sale. I will pack and post everything purchased from the next 3 days as soon as I can, starting on the Tuesday. edit 23rd July : All packed and posted :) Gave myself a gold star too :p ha ha ha

Make a Snarky Cat Birthday Card ...

Birthday card made using Dylusions spray inks, Archival ink pads and Tim Holtz Snarky Cat and Media Marks rubber stamps with Stickles glitter glue.

Here's a simple way to create a card or journal page using stamps and inks on mixed media paper. The smooth paper helps images print crisp and clear.

This card could be for anything - birthdays, thank yous, hellos, whatevers, weddings, parties, anything! lol Love 80s music! :D

Snarky Cat, above, was stamped onto the white mixed media paper using Black Soot Archival Ink. The greeting, Happy Birthday (Tim's Handwritten Sentiments stamp set), was also stamped in black, then covered in clear embossing powder (tapped off, heated with the Ranger Heat-It Tool to

Progress pic of the Birthday card made using Dylusions spray inks, Archival ink pads and Tim Holtz Snarky Cat and Media Marks rubber stamps.

To make the background...
- gather Dylusions Spray Inks in Rose Quartz, Crushed Grape and Vibrant Turquoise so they are ready for the next step.
- Using a large paintbrush and water, brush the area around the cat (keeping him dry).
- Apply the three colours so they blend over the wet card, a little at a time to create an airy cloudy wash. I put turquoise diagonally across the middle, purple at the top and pink on the bottom.
- use the hot air tool (Heat-it tool) to dry the ink, then splatter the bakcground with water to create splattery droplets and dry again.
- Stamp a variety of patterns around the background using Dylusions Archival Ink Pads in Vibrant Turquoise, Crushed Grape, Lemon Zest and Fresh Lime.
- Using Ranger's Stickles, apply gorgeous sparkly glitter glue everywhere you go.
- I like to use a very fine black marker to alter Snarky by adding a heart bellybutton, grow the whiskers and give him a cheeky smile :)

Something to inspire you to be crafty and keep you amused (Snarky Cat always makes me smile) while we wait for new arty treasures from Dyan, Dina and our favourite professor, Tim.

What we're waiting for so far  ... More of Dina's Ledger Journals will hopefully be here in August and Tim's Sizzix Noteworthy Thinlits are destined for October. Let me know if you'd like to be added to our list of wonderful patient peoples.

Bragging about Wagging ... I enjoyed a mini-break and day off on the 17th July with friends having lunch in the city and visiting the Adelaide museum, wandering through the fascinating historical finds of the Vikings Hoard, a small selection of handcrafted treasures all the way from Galloway, Scotland. They were so beautifully crafted out of silver, gold, silks, linens. Bands, rings, pendants and more including a (copper I think) pot that is so well preserved. The patina on the pot and the fabric pouch has that most gorgeous patina and textures we all try to capture with Distress inks and paints.

Monday 21st July is another day in the city for Dad's next adventure with the scanning team of Benson's... Dad is so much better! and says he feels great, better than he has for a long time, which is most awesome indeed. Really appreciate our doctors, the hospitals (Flinders and Calvary) and all the amazing teams of people who helped care for and heal my favourite Dad.

Remember (as I put this at the top of this page too) - Monday 21st July - we will be closed for the day while you all enjoy the final few hours of our Wintery sale. I will pack and post everything purchased from the next 3 days as soon as I can, starting on the Tuesday. By then, you'll have heard Tim's news and maybe some news from Dina and Dyan as well.

Thanks so much for visiting, reading and spending time in my arty world!

Happy Creative Days!
:)
