Tim Holtz Distress Watercolour Pencils are watercolour sticks of highly pigmented watersoluble pencils (without the wood casing), each around 5 inches long (13cm) - they look like crayons but are actual artist quality pencils. These Distress Pencils are formulated to achieve vibrant colouring effects on porous surfaces like paper, card, fabrics and more.

How to use watercolour pencils .... Use pencils to colour in, draw, stamp, stencil, scribble, doodle, paint, collage, create in any way you wish, as well as over other Tim Holtz Distress essentials including Distress Ink, Oxides, Sprays or Paint for more creative possibilities. Coordinates with the Distress colour range.
Another way is to colour with watercolour pencils is to colour onto your craft mat then blend with water using a waterbrush or paint brush. This creates a puddle of Crayon Paint :)
To use this puddle of colour ... Swipe or press your paper through (as we do with Distress Inks) or use your favourite art tools to pick up the colour - paint brush, finger, ink blending tool, gel printing plate, rubber stamp, brayer (roller) or other marking tools.
Save your shavings in an empty Distress Paint Palette (also available, sold separately) so you've got a tray of watercolour paints in your favourite Distress colours! Add white or black to create even more tones :) Add 1-2 drops of water with a pipette or eyedropper (both available) to turn shavings into paint which dries out to use another day :)
... These ideas are from Tami Bastiaans (using a Distress palette) and Cheiron Brandon (who uses empty paint pans). Big thanks to Tim's team of creators for their inspiration and encouragement!
