If you're overwhelmed by all the millions of colouring books that have swamped the market, you're not alone. This book isn't like any of those at all.

This wonderful therapeutic book is filled from cover to cover with beautifully drawn illustrations featuring magical scenes that are just waiting to be coloured by you! Wait until you see it - there's a picture that looks like Stonehenge and a wonderful dragon to colour.

I've created a video review that includes my thoughts, over excitedness and ooohs and aaahs as I wander through this book with you. I hadn't opened the book before recording, so unless you've watched my video before (thanks for watching it more than once if you have) then we're both seeing it all together for the first time.

In this amazing book, Angela and Lacy offer up 100 colouring templates, all designed to boost strength, courage, and confidence. At the beginning of each chapter are a few coloured illustrations to guide you along, plus at the end of each chapter is a blank page to draw your own picture to colour. Wonderfully organised into seven therapeutically themed chapters, readers can explore the benefits of putting pencil (or paints, markers and crayons) to paper.

Happy Creative Day!

Hello :)

The Dylusions delivery arrived yesterday and everything that was in the box has now been posted to their new homes. Thank you so much everyone!

A few items were placed on backorder at my supplier but they will be shipped to me late April, early May. Watch this space :)

I'd love to say everything is all now instore but it sold out just as fast as it arrived! All that is left (until the next delivery) are 2 packs of colouring sheets, 2 sets of designer Archival ink pads, 1 pack of plain adhesive canvas and 1 pack of postcards. All Dylusions of course :) Therefore, I'm leaving most of it labeled "PreOrder" so you don't get confused. Any questions, just ask any time!

The Crazy Cat stamp sets are being released later this month so arriving with the delivery I just mentioned. Tim's cottages and roof tiles "Bigz Dies" are being released late May, early June.

Those groovy Frankenstein heads (dies) are available now (and other Sizzix dies) - let me know if you'd like me to order them.

Finnabair, more Liquitex treasures, Ken Oliver, Brusho Crystal Colours, Winsor & Newton paint brushes and the new Tim treasures will be uploaded to my shop on Friday, 8th - some instore now, others arriving late April, early May. Watch this space for details or the category "What's New" on the home page.

I thank you all immensely for waiting with me for these gorgeous treasures - but as we all know, anything by Dyan (and Tim and Dina) is worth the wait. I'll be sure to include something special in with your order to say thank you as well :) I really appreciate you, your time and your custom.

If I've missed anything or you have questions, please get in contact by email, message or phone (0428 898 120). Thank you! Have a happy day :) Jenny

Happy Creative Easter to You

Wishing you a very Happy Easter!

I've had the plans for this drawing on the to-do list for a week and have finally got it drawn properly for you. I hope you like it :)

colouring fun for everything this Easter weekend

I sketched it out first, then scanned and put into Photoshop. Its all drawn by hand except the wording (its a font called ... I'll put that in later) and the nest. For all those lines in the next I drew dozens of straight lines, then selected the lot and added a 'stroke' to their edges. Then went over each crossing and added lines to make them become over and under each other.

I was going to add R(ed), Y(ellow) and B(lue) to the buckets of paint but left them off, along with the designs on the eggs. This way you can create your own zentangling inspired designs (aka tangling or doodling, use the text for inspiration) for the eggs and have your bee use whatever paint colour you choose!

Have fun with it :) I'd love to see what you do with this image, so please upload your finished art to Instagram with the tag - #ArtbyJennyEasterColouring2016.

If you don't have Instagram, its fine, don't worry! Simply upload it directly to your own space in Facebook or my page at Just ensure you use the hashtag so I can find and admire it :)

So go on, download my pic, paint it, colour it or alter it in a way that makes you smile!

Thanks for reading my blog. Have a happy creative day!

Art Journaling Around Australia - Faces

Balancing work and my creative time has been a juggling act these past 12 months but I finally found, or rather, made time the other day to catch up on a couple of journals that were waiting for me to finish them - then they could continue on their adventure around Australia.

Aussie Art Swap journal page for "Faces" theme, art by Jenny James of Art by Jenny
Above ... My journal page for Jan's "Faces" theme with one of my favourite quotes by Robin Williams.

I started out planning to paint and embellish with texture pastes stencils but ended up using beautiful scrapbook papers and doodling with my Derwent Graphik line makers. I love using the .3 for writing and the .5 for doodling swirls.

In hindsight, the quote "All it takes is a beautiful fake smile to hide an injured soul, and they will never notice how broken you really are!" by Robin Williams, should have been done in a thicker pen or stamps, or even text transferred from my bubblejet. Or I could have written on a tracing paper or vellum overlay! Ah well, at least it still looks ok and you can still read it, sort of :)

If only we all saw what others saw when looking in a mirror, quote on art journal detail by Jenny James
Above ... such a peaceful woman with gorgeous blue hair and such a wise tattoo!

This quote "If only we all saw what others saw, when looking in a mirror" is something we all should take notice of as well. A friend posted a meme the other day about this too - it was funny, but we really should like ourselves (inside and out) alot more than we all do. Our family and friends love us just as we are, so we should too!

This journal swap is hosted by the wonderful and talented Louise 'River Art Girl' Kirby who manages the Aussie Art Swap Facebook group. She's gathered together a fantastic bunch of amazing artists who, like me, are passionate about art and how much it helps us in our every day lives. I'm a bit of a record at times, often saying how much art helps us heal and soothe our mind, heart and soul - but I really believe it to be true :) Its so cool to be in such an inspirational and encouraging group! We all learn from each other - its awesome!

As well as the journal circles, we have Artist Trading Card swaps, digital art postcard swap (must get mine finished asap too!) and what they call a DJP or deconstructed journal page... plus other types of swaps and prompts to keep us creative, thinking outside the hexagon (box, square... whatever!).

Louise has even organised us a blog to tell the story of our journal pages. Check it out - The Australian Art Journal Swap - its amazing! And here are my posts - Art by Jenny aka Jenny James at AAJS

Are you in Facebook too? If you'd love to be part of this fabulous arty group, visit the Facebook group and ask to join. We'd all love to see what you create :)

Happy Creative Day!
